Obtained Bachelors Degree in Electronic & Telecommunication Engineering (first class honors) from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in 1996. The specialization areas are Data Communication, Multiservice Networking and Value Added Services design and deployment.

Joined an IT System Integration company - BC Software Systems (Colombo, Sri Lanka) in 1997.  During the first year worked in several project teams implementing local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN).  The area of specialization was later defined as WAN Engineering and TCP/IP Network Design. Secondary area of interest was Internet / Intranet infrastructure design and implementation.

Over five years experience in design and installation of wide area network (WAN), TCP/IP internetworking, full-service Internet and messaging infrastructure and Voice over IP solutions. Recent experience included designing and installing the security infrastructure comprising a firewall system and VPN service for the Network Operating Center (NOC) of a Managed Service Provider (MSP) in San Francisco, California.

Current specialization is network security: firewall, VPN, content inspection and intrusion detection.  Research interests are simulation of thin wire antenna structures using numerical methods and broadband impedance matching. Hobbies are reading and music.
